Just to let you know that I'm back from my "vacation" in France.... 3 months of hard labour would be a more apt description. This summer was even crazier than usual, and that's saying a lot! I'll spare you the details.
Still and all, most of the time we had wonderful weather, so no complaints there, and having family and friends coming to stay was super and great fun as always.
I managed to see a very interesting art exhibition in Paris. It was titled: "Une image peut en cacher une autre", and showed five centuries worth of paintings and drawings with hidden images and/ or optical tricks.
Stars of the show: the famous fruit and vegetable heads by the Renaissance painter Guiseppe Arcimboldo - turn them one way and you see a basket of fruit or veggies (or even rats, frogs, foxes and whatnot), view them upside down and they turn into a face. Or there's the Pope - turn him around..... and you have the Devil.
There was the famous head of a duck/ head of a rabbit, Picasso's vases/ heads and even some far-out sculptures/ installations whose shadows showed something totally different than what was actually there.
It was a huge and very interesting exhibition, often funny and very entertaining too: Before you knew it you'd be involved in lively discussions with total strangers, looking for and pointing out to each other the hidden images.
A very enjoyable afternoon, but in the end we came away with total sensory overload!
I hope you guys also had a good summer.... but hopefully a bit less "active" and stressful than mine.
I need some very serious R&R!
