First time I first saw this kind of hydrangea I just flipped; had to have one for my garden in France! Unfortunately a hybrid like this needs much more care than I could ever give it, being away for 9 months of the year. So, sadly

no "nightingale" for my garden...
But then I decided to do the next best thing..... paint it!

pretty pretty!

i used to dislike hydrangea (our name for it), thinking it was a bit too bombastic and "tight" with those big balls o' blue - but now i appreciate them. we planted a new kind a couple of years ago called "endless summer" - it blooms twice each season, once on old wood, once on new wood. the second flush of blooms isn't as nice as the first, and often is pinker than the first (which are bluer).

but i love the lacecaps (like the one you painted) the most. unfortunately, we're supposed to be too cold in boise for them. so i stick to the rounded "mopheads"

hehe.... i've found it's easiest to get through a backlog by going directly to someone's gallery and going through until either i've gotten to the last ones i saw weeks (or months
